Following a dry start to the week, a system from the Midwest will push locally gusty and drenching thunderstorms across the Boston area on Tuesday.
Humidity levels will surge ahead of the storms.
The storms will bring the potential for both damaging wind gusts and flash flooding.

While the storms could slow highway travel and cause airline delays, they can give thirsty lawns and gardens a drink.
Rain Arrives to Start the Week
Since July 1, rainfall has ranged from 40 to 80 percent of average around Massachusetts.

Following the storms, humidity levels will be slashed by Wednesday. However, there can still be spotty showers.
Temperatures will remain slightly below average through Thursday, before trending higher by next weekend.
