A storm moving out from the Southwest will regenerate and produce a swath of slippery travel in parts of Texas to the central Plains during the first part of the weekend.
One batch of ice affected Texas and the southern Plains on New Year's Day. Locations across Texas received over a quarter of an inch of including the towns of Santa Anna, San Angelo, and Eldorado.
Ice redeveloped over western Texas on Friday and will expand northeastward as a swath of wintry precipitation over the southern and central Plains into Saturday evening.
Know when the rain will start or stop down to the minute by using AccuWeather MinuteCast®.
As the storm continues to roll northeastward into a thicker dome of colder air, rain and ice will transition to snow over the central Plains. At the same time colder air will sweep eastward farther to the southwest.

Seven Scientific Tips for Staying Warm
According to AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski, "A swath of ice and rain will be followed by accumulating snow in parts of northwestern Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and northwestern Missouri into Saturday."
People traveling around Amarillo, Texas; Wichita, Kansas; and Kansas City, Missouri, should be prepared for slippery conditions and delays.
Enough snow to shovel and plow is likely to fall from part of the northern Texas Panhandle and the Oklahoma Panhandle to central and northeastern Kansas, southeastern Nebraska and a large part of Iowa.
Motorists should be prepared for snowy and slippery travel over a long stretch of Interstate-35 in northern Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. Delays due to deicing activities are possible at Kansas City.
The storm will move on to the Midwest and Northeast with a large swath of snow, ice and travel disruptions later in the weekend.
