Weather Underground Forecast for Monday,October 10,2016
A mixture of rain and snow will affect the Northwest on Monday, while scattered showers shift over the Plains and the Midwest.
A cold frontal boundary will extend west southwestward from the northern Plains to the Pacific Northwest. Moisture from the Pacific will interact with this frontal boundary, leading to light to moderate showers from Oregon to northern Minnesota. A cold air mass will surge southward over the Northwest, which will support high elevation snow showers in the northern Rockies, the central Rockies and the northern high Plains. A mixture of rain and snow will affect North Dakota. Locally heavy snow will impact parts of Montana. Winter storm warnings will remain in effect for northwest Montana through Monday evening. A ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific should keep the majority of California and Nevada clear of precipitation.
Meanwhile, a cluster of showers and isolated thunderstorms will drift eastward over the central Plains and the Midwest.
Back east, Post-Tropical Cyclone Matthew will continue to shift eastward away from the Mid-Atlantic. A ridge of high pressure over the Northwest should keep most states east of the Mississippi River dry on Monday. Scattered showers will remain a possibility for the east coast of Florida due to an onshore flow from the Atlantic.
