A watch is typically issued 48 hours before the anticipated first occurrence of tropical storm-force winds, conditions that make outside preparations difficult or dangerous.
The National Hurricane Center says that a hurricane warning will likely be required for Bermuda on Tuesday.
Nicole was located about 380 miles south of Bermuda, as of Monday night.

Current Storm Information
Tuesday and Wednesday, atmospheric conditions will become more conducive to strengthening as wind shear relaxes. Nicole could become a hurricane as early as Tuesday.
Dips in the jet stream coming off the East Coast of the United States will help steer Nicole in the general direction of Bermuda Wednesday night into Thursday.
