Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,August 5,2016
A cold frontal boundary will shift over the eastern half of the country on Friday, while monsoonal thunderstorms affect the Southwest.
A low pressure system will push east northeastward across southeast Canada. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will stretch southwestward across the Great Lakes, the middle Mississippi Valley, the central Plains and the southern Plains. As this frontal boundary moves eastward, it will generate showers and thunderstorms across the Midwest, New England, the Mid-Atlantic, the Deep South, the central Plains and the southern Plains. Moisture-rich air will initiate locally heavy rain in the Southeast. Prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to parts of northern Florida. Behind this frontal boundary, low temperatures will drop slightly below normal from the Rockies to the northern Plains.
Meanwhile, a slug of monsoonal moisture will keep widespread showers and thunderstorms in the picture for the Intermountain West and the Desert Southwest. Locally heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to northern New Mexico, Colorado, northwest Kansas and southwest Nebraska.
Further to the west, a low pressure area will drift southeastward from British Columbia to the Pacific Northwest. This system will usher light, scattered showers over parts of the Pacific Northwest. The remainder of the West Coast should stay clear of precipitation.
