Refreshing air to follow stormy Saturday across northeastern US

Following rounds of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, a several-day stretch of drier and less humid air is on tap across the northeastern United States.
The upcoming pattern of dry weather will be a carbon copy of the comfortable conditions observed during the first three days of August with low humidity and temperatures near average.
Before this air arrives, warm and more humid air will take control across the region.
"A storm will push from west to east across the Northeast on Saturday with showers and thunderstorms," AccuWeather Meteorologist Ryan Adamson said.
Showers and thunderstorms will arrive in a weakening state across the interior portions of the Northeast Friday night before a new line of storms develops along the Interstate 95 corridor on Saturday.
These thunderstorms are not expected to produce widespread areas of severe weather, but the strongest storms could be heavy and gusty.
Delays on the road and in the air are possible from Boston to New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Those traveling at highway speeds will want to slow down in any heavy downpour to reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
On Saturday, the weather will gradually improve from west to east as many communities in the interior Northeast will notice a drop in humidity by the afternoon hours. This includes the cities of Burlington, Vermont; Syracuse and Buffalo, New York; Erie and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Cleveland and Detroit.

"Behind the storm on Saturday, some of the most comfortable weather of the summer will move in through early next week," Adamson said.
Those wanting a break from the heat and humidity to enjoy outdoor activities such as golfing, jogging or barbecuing should take advantage of the opportunity.
"Low humidity levels will make for pleasantly warm days and comfortable nights for sleeping," Adamson said.

Air conditioners will get a much needed break during the overnight hours as locals will have the opportunity to keep the windows open and allow the fresh air to filter through.
Highs Sunday through Tuesday will average from the upper 70s to lower 80s F across the interior Northeast to the lower and middle 80s along the Interstate 95 corridor.
Overnight lows will dip into the 60s near the coast and the 50s across the interior. Some of the typical cooler spots could fall into the 40s.
Dry weather and sunshine will span the region Sunday through Tuesday. However, a few extra clouds and showers may dampen portions of northern New England on Sunday before clearing out on Monday.
By the middle and end of next week, warmer and more humid air will return.
