After losing his wife to last Thursday's EF4 tornado in Fairdale, Illinois, Clem Schultz was hoping for a miracle.
The couple's white German shepherd, Missy, was missing after the twister devastated the small town. A Facebook page was launched to make locals aware that Schultz was desperately looking for the dog, and residents jumped into action.
Then, two days after the tornado struck Fairdale, a very shaken-up Missy was spotted in a field nearby, according to NBC Chicago. But the storm left her so disturbed that she had to be chased for more than two miles before a family member caught her, the report added.

Locating Missy was a small relief at the end of a tragic event in which Clem, 84, lost his wife of 25 years, Geraldine, when their house was hit by the tornado, according to WGN-TV. Geralidne was one of two people to die during the tornado; next-door neighbor Jackie Klosa, 69, was found dead in her shower, where she was taking cover during the storm.
Clem survived inside the home, but suffered several injuries. He has since moved in with his son while the clean-up at the site of his former home continues, he told hhe Chicago Tribune.
"(Sunday) was the worst," said his daughter, Sue Frazier, in the report. "The shock is wearing off and the pain is setting in, both physically and emotionally. I mean, to have his whole life in a pile of rubble."
