Following multiple days and weekends with rain and storms this month, millions of people across the South will not have to worry about severe weather or dodging downpours.
For many areas in the South, this may end up being the nicest weekend of the spring. For people with baseball games, family gatherings, barbecues or those just wanting to get out and work in the garden or the fields, this will be a great weekend.
An area of high pressure will settle in from the Midwest and sprawl from west to east from Texas to Florida and the Carolina coast. Humidity levels will be low.

The sunny weather will extend into part of the Ohio Valley, including the 141st Annual Kentucky Derby at Louisville on Saturday evening.
Beneath the large fair-weather system, temperatures will trend upward through the 70s across the Tennessee Valley and Carolinas to near 80 along the Gulf Coast. Highs will be in the lower 80s over much of Florida without high humidity.

For NASCAR fans heading to Alabama and Talladega Superspeedway for the Geico 500 on Sunday, sunshine will sent temperatures to near 80 in the afternoon. AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures will be in the middle 80s with the intense May sunshine.
Since there will be no rain to clean out the air, this weekend could be rough for some people who suffer with allergies. However, winds will be light as to not disturb and distribute more pollen.
In the wake of the recent rain and pools of water created, a new crop of mosquitoes and other small insects will be born.

Those who mind the pests should remember to use insect repellent when spending lengthy time outdoors, such as fishing, hiking or camping. The light winds could add to the insect problem.
Rainfall over much of the South this April has been well above average.
In some cases, rainfall of two to three times the April average has occurred.

Folks in the South may want to take advantage of weekends like this as frequent showers and thunderstorms are in the offing based on AccuWeather's 2015 Summer Forecast.
