A chance for showers and cloudy skies will hover over Minneapolis throughout Mother's Day weekend.
Following thunderstorms, drier air will move into Minneapolis on Friday.

"This will lead to a breezy and cooler day with clouds breaking for some sunshine," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Brian Edwards said.
High temperatures will only reach the 60-degree mark which is about 7 degrees below average for this time of year.
Westerly winds will gust to between 20 and 30 mph throughout the day.

Temperatures will increase slightly for the weekend, he said.
"A more seasonable day expected on Saturday but there will be a few afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms," he said.
For those looking to prepare for Mother's Day activities, Sunday will be another cool day with a mix of clouds and sun and perhaps a shower.
Temperatures will remain near 60 throughout the day and into early next week.
"Some rain is possible on Monday," Edwards said.
