Following some cooler weather for the city, sunny skies and warmer air will return to Chicago in time for the weekend.
Beginning Thursday, temperatures will rise to the 70 F mark, nearing more seasonable highs for the region. Temperatures will increase each day through Sunday, reaching the high 70s by the end of the weekend.
Sunny skies will grace the Chicago area each day Friday through Sunday during the afternoon hours. For stargazers, Friday night will also feature clear skies.
While the first day of June, on Sunday, will be the warmest day of the weekend, thunderstorms and showers will roll into the region during the afternoon.
Thunderstorms and rain showers will persist through the night on Sunday.

Storms will continue across the Chicago area through Tuesday evening. Temperatures next week, however, will rise into the 80s.
Cloudy skies on Wednesday will provide relief from the stormy weather pattern.
