Sunday's cool air will be replaced by a dramatic warmup just in time for Memorial Day.
A change in wind direction from the west on Memorial Day will allow noticeably warmer air to surge across the Boston area on Monday.
Temperatures will soar into the 80s, roughly 20 degrees above Sunday's cool high.
Humidity will also stay low and prevent the holiday from feeling muggy.
Thunderstorms set to ruin holiday plans across northern New England should remain north of Boston and its suburbs.
Since the strong sun will shine at times, sunscreen is encouraged for anyone outside for extended periods of time.
Those heading to the beaches should not be fooled by the warm surge. Water temperatures remain rather chilly and may be too risky to enter.

Showers will return on Tuesday as noticeably cooler air arrives. Temperatures will likely start the day in the 60s before falling into the 50s.
