Despite warm temperatures in Chicago this week, rain and thunderstorms are possible for Mother's Day on Sunday.
Temperatures will drop nearly 10 degrees for Friday, sinking to the low 70s. Thunderstorms, breezy winds and clouds will persist in the city through the afternoon, but storms will move out of the area by Friday night.

Overnight temperatures Friday and Saturday nights will hover around the 55 F mark.
For the first day of the weekend, the sun will return for parts of the afternoon Saturday, but thunderstorms will come back to Chicago for Saturday evening.
Showers and thunderstorms will last through Saturday night, and showers will continue throughout the day on Mother's Day. While the afternoon will be storm-free for the holiday Sunday, storms will roll back into the city Sunday night, possibly impacting holiday activities.
The city will have another chance for a thunderstorm on Monday.
