Despite highs in the 50s to start the week, snow will soon return to Minneapolis.
Tuesday night is when snow spreading from Colorado to western Lake Superioris expected to reach Minneapolis.
Current indications put the thin stripe of heavier snow, totaling 2 to 4 inches, over Minneapolis.
However, that zone would narrowly miss the city if the storm delivering the snow shifts slightly off course. Plain rain would fall if the storm tracks just to the north of Minneapolis.
The heaviest snow totals will occur on grassy and elevated surfaces since persistent cold has been lacking across the region recently.
That is not to say that motorists should let their guard down. There can still be some accumulation on roads and slick travel, especially since the snow is falling at night and where it comes down heavily for a time.

Airline travelers should also prepare for possible flight delays.
Prior to any snow Tuesday night, another storm system will deliver a couple of showers to Minneapolis on Monday. A gusty breeze will also blow as temperatures climb to around 50 degrees.
