Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,August 9,2016

The Southeast will see another wet day on Tuesday as tropical moisture lingers over the region. This will continue feeding heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across the Gulf states, the Carolinas, and northward into Tennessee and the Virginias. Heaviest rainfall is anticipated for northern Florida again, thus expect flood warnings and advisories to remain in effect for the region. The soil is very saturated in these regions as some locations have seen 6 to 10 inches of rainfall over the past few days.

To the north, a low pressure system moving through eastern Canada will create a cold front that stretches from the Northeast through the Midwest. This system will produce heavy rains with rainfall totals ranging from 0.50 to 1.0 inches from eastern New York through the Ohio River Valley. Behind this activity, a trough of low pressure moves eastward from the Pacific Northwest and into the northern Rockies. Moisture from this system advances into the northern Plains producing active weather for the northwestern corner of the nation. Showers and thunderstorms will develop in these areas with a slight chance of severe thunderstorm development. The main threats in eastern Montana and western North Dakota are strong gusty winds and large hail.

Meanwhile to the south, monsoonal moisture over the Southwest allows for shower and thunderstorm activity to persist with localized areas of heavy rainfall and flooding possible across the Four Corners.
