Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,August 7,2016

Shower and thunderstorm activity persists for the Southeast on Sunday while areas of wet weather continue for the Rockies and Four Corners. A stationary front lingers over the Southeast and continues pulling abundant moisture in from the Gulf of Mexico. This allows for heavy rainfall and strong thunderstorm development to persist from the Gulf Coast through the Carolinas. Areas of localized flash flooding are expected for parts of northern Florida on Sunday.

Behind this activity in the Plains, another disturbance moves off the Rockies and brings more rain to the central Plains. Kansas and Oklahoma will see more areas of flooding, as this region has seen heavy rain for a few days in a row now. Further west, monsoonal moisture over the Four Corners interacts with a trough of low pressure over the Rockies, allowing for showers and thunderstorm to persist from Montana through Utah and Colorado, into New Mexico. Areas of flash flooding are anticipated in the deserts as periods of heavy rainfall are possible with these conditions.

Meanwhile in the Great Lakes and Northeast, the passage of the cold front to the south keeps the region cool for this time of year. Expect highs to range in the mid-70s to mid-80s for the region, a few degrees below normal for this time of year.
