Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,August 16,2016

A low pressure system will impact the eastern half of the country on Tuesday, while high pressure lingers over the West Coast.

An area of low pressure will move northeastward from the Midwest to New England. This system will generate moderate to heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms over the Midwest, the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in Pennsylvania, southern New York and northwest New Jersey. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to a large portion of New York and New England. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend southwestward from the Midwest to the southern Plains. This frontal boundary will collide with warm and humid air from the Gulf of Mexico, which will lead to widespread rain and thunderstorms in the Midwest, the Deep South and the southern Plains. Heavy rain could lead to flash flooding in western Kentucky, western Tennessee, northwest Mississippi, Arkansas, northern Louisiana and eastern Texas.

Meanwhile, monsoonal thunderstorms will pop up across parts of the Four Corners. Most areas west of the Continental Divide will experience warm and dry weather on Tuesday.
