The north-central United States will face rounds of locally heavy and severe thunderstorms through Thursday.
"An eastward-moving system originating over the northern Rockies will create a multi-day severe weather setup for the northern Plains and Upper Midwest," AccuWeather Storm Warning Meteorologist Brian Adams said.
The system will clash with heat and humidity surging northward from the southern Plains, adding fuel to the storms.
The zone at the greatest risk for severe weather will push eastward each day with the system's progression, shifting from the Dakotas on Wednesday to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa on Thursday.

The main threats with each round of storms will include damaging wind gusts, large hail and flash flooding, Adams said.
Isolated tornadoes will also be possible.

The storms will likely be highly localized during the afternoon hours, before becoming more numerous toward evening.
Locally heavy rain can produce flash flooding, even in the absence of severe weather across the region.
Damage to trees, structures and crops may be caused by some of the strongest storms.
Motorists on interstates 29, 35, 90 and 94 could face torrential downpours and ponding on the roadway for a time into Wednesday night.
Thunderstorms will be past their peak intensity should they reach Minneapolis late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
On Thursday, the zone at the greatest risk for severe storms will expand farther eastward and southward.
Locations from Wisconsin and Minnesota to Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas, are the most likely areas for locally violent storms during Thursday afternoon and evening.
