Additional rain will target Macedonia early this week after heavy thunderstorms caused the deaths of at least 20 people due to flooding on Saturday night.

Some of the victims drowned in their cars as water piled up quickly due to the intensity of the rainfall, according to BBC News. Other villages in the northeastern part of Macedonia were cut off from travel due to landslides caused by the heavy rain.
Preliminary rain totals from a weather observation site on the north side of Skopje indicate that 93 mm (3.66 inches) fell on Saturday night. This is more rainfall than the average amount for the month of August.

The forecast unfortunately looks to offer up more showers and thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday, and these storms can lead to more flash flooding problems.
Flooding problems could worsen if another storm were to dump copious amounts of rain.
Later in the week, a shower or thunderstorm will still remain in the forecast. The shower or thunderstorm chance should be more spotty in nature and not be strong like storms earlier in the week.
High pressure will promote drier conditions next weekend.
