Developing tropical system to threaten Florida with major flooding

An area of disturbed weather over the Deep South has the potential to spawn the next tropical system of concern for the Atlantic basin during next week with Florida at risk for major flooding.
"Formation of a tropical system will depend on whether or not this disturbance moves over the open waters of the northeastern Gulf of Mexico and spends a few days over the warm water," according to AccuWeather Hurricane Expert Dan Kottlowski.

Tropical storms have formed in this manner in the past, but the process can be very slow.
The area being monitored extends from northern Florida to Louisiana spanning Tuesday to Friday. If a tropical storm forms, it would acquire the name Fiona.
Regardless of whether or not a tropical storm develops, light winds, copious amounts of moisture and the disturbance itself will produce rounds of heavy rain through next week.

2016 US fall forecast
Flood risk looms for southeastern US as weekend storms threaten to dump inches of rain

A slow-moving storm system will deposit locally heavy rainfall over much of the southeastern United States through this weekend.
The disturbance near the Gulf Coast will enhance the rainfall beyond the weekend.
Downpours will occur on a nearly daily basis from the central and eastern Gulf Coast to the Carolinas, leading to localized flash flooding and brief travel disruptions.

Some communities could receive 1 to 2 inches of rain in as many hours where thunderstorms develop.
The risk for widespread and major flooding will focus on Florida's panhandle and northwestern peninsula, where cumulative rainfall is expected to top 5 inches with localized amounts in excess of 12 inches.

"Such extreme totals are expected even without a tropical depression or storm taking shape," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski said. "Should such a tropical system form, more communities may be at risk for rain totals exceeding 12 inches and more severe flooding."
Residents of Tallahassee, Panama City, Gainesville and Tampa, Florida, should prepare for road closures and possible evacuations. Rivers could overflow their banks, threatening to further inundate neighboring communities.
If a tropical storm develops, the potential for rough surf, beach erosion and coastal flooding will also increase.

Send the rain up the east coast and keep the interior Southeast mostly dry with no heavy rain. All tropical systems need to track offshore the east coast and keep GA and the Southeast mainly on the dry side.

Maybe it will cut Florida loose and carry it away...we can certainly do without that stinkhole of a state....nothing works there, the people are dumber than stones, people get away with murder (Casey Anthony, George Zimmerman) and everyone smells...good riddance!

Way to work every stereotype about Florida into one very brief (albeit out of touch and completely inaccurate) facebook comment... Kudos there. You really showed us! Idiots are everywhere, there may even be one reading this reply right now!
