Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,July 6,2016

A couple of low pressure areas will bring stormy weather to the Plains and the Midwest on Wednesday, while high pressure builds across the Southwest.

An area of low pressure will transition eastward over the upper Mississippi Valley and the Great Lakes. This system will interact with warm and humid air from the Gulf of Mexico, which will lead to widespread rain and thunderstorms. Stormy weather can be expected in the central Plains, the Mississippi Valley, the Deep South, the Tennessee Valley, the Mid-Atlantic, the Midwest and parts of the Northeast. Prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to eastern Missouri, southern Illinois, southern Indiana, northwest Kentucky and north central Kentucky. Most of the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England should stay clear of precipitation.

Meanwhile, a separate area of low pressure will form along a frontal boundary extending west southwestward over the northern Plains. This system will initiate rain and thunderstorms over the upper Intermountain West and the northern Plains. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in southeast Montana, northeast Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Relatively cool air will stay in place over the western tier of the Pacific Northwest and the northern Rockies.

A ridge of high pressure will bring warm and dry weather to most locations west of the Continental Divide on Wednesday.
