Frank Continues to Weaken as a Tropical Storm

July 27,2016
After becoming the record-breaking fifth July eastern Pacific hurricane Tuesday, Frank has weakened to a tropical storm well off Mexico's Baja California peninsula.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
  • Tropical Storm Frank was located about 815 miles west of the southern tip of Baja California, as of Wednesday night.
  • The storm is now headed over cooler water, so it will steadily weaken and should become a post-tropical remnant low by Thursday night.
  • Frank is no threat to land.
Frank passed north of Socorro Island on Saturday evening with winds of 65 mph. The island reported wind gusts to 53 mph.
