Frank has become the fifth eastern Pacific hurricane this month. Frank will slowly weaken well off Mexico's Baja California peninsula this week. Last week, Frank became the sixth tropical storm to form in the eastern Pacific this month.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
- Hurricane Frank was located about 500 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.
- The storm will move over cooler water and eventually experience increased wind shear, so a slow weakening phase is forecast this week.
- Frank is no threat to land.
Frank passed north of Socorro Island on Saturday evening with winds of 65 mph. The island reported wind gusts to 53 mph.
