Celia weakened to a tropical storm early Wednesday and will continue to wind down gradually over the Pacific Ocean after becoming the basin's second hurricane of the season Sunday.
Like its two predecessors, Celia will not affect land, remaining over the open Pacific waters.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
- Celia's center was located a little less than 1,200 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii.
- Celia is expected to weaken to a depression, then spin down to a remnant low by Friday.
- Celia may make it to the longitude of the Hawaiian Islands, but only as a remnant low.
- On average, the season's third storm forms by July 5, according to the National Hurricane Center.
