A slow-moving storm system will produce several days of rain and thunderstorms across Germany late this week.
The arrival of these storms will bring an end to the recent heat wave in western Germany which produced temperatures of 34 C (93 F) or higher in Frankfurt, Cologne and Düsseldorf.
High temperatures will trend down to near 25 C (77 F) by Saturday across the region.
Thunderstorms will erupt across Germany on Thursday, with the strongest storms producing flooding downpours, hail and damaging winds.

"Severe weather will diminish late on Thursday night but is expected to redevelop again on Friday," AccuWeather Meteorologist Courtney Spamer said.
The greatest threat for storms on Thursday and Friday will be across southern and central Germany, including Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Munich.
On both days, thunderstorms are expected to produce torrential downpours that can lead to flash flooding problems.
"Over 25 mm (1 inch) of rain could fall in a short period of time, so be cautious of flooded roadways and the rising water level of streams," Spamer said.
"These severe storms will also have the potential to bring damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, as well as hail."
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue on Saturday and Sunday across southern Germany; however, the threat for severe weather will diminish.
Isolated thunderstorms will also target Cologne, Düsseldorf, Bremen and Hamburg.
