Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday, May 7,2016
The weather pattern will see little change on Saturday as two strong low pressure systems remain situated over the coasts, with a broad ridge of high pressure over the center of the nation. However, the ridge in the middle of the country starts to shift southward, as a trough of low pressure sweeps through the upper Midwest and into the Great Lakes on Saturday. This system will also produce a cold front that will bring cooler temperatures to the region with a chance of scattered showers for Minnesota, Wisconsin, and moving into Michigan. Hot temperatures will persist for the central and southern Plains, as well as the Mississippi River Valley with highs likely to reach into the 80s and 90s again. High temperatures in the northern Plains and upper Midwest will return to the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Meanwhile in the East, a low pressure system continues spinning over the Eastern Seaboard, producing more rain showers across the region from the Virginias to New York state. Rainfall totals are expected to be less than the region experienced on Friday.
Out West, a broad low pressure system spinning over California will continue pulling moisture in from the Pacific and produce scattered showers from the West Coast through the Rockies. Heaviest rainfall on Saturday will likely developer over parts of southern California and Arizona. Flood advisories have been issued for these areas so please take caution in areas under heavy downpours.
