Cooler air to return as thousands converge on Windsor Castle to celebrate the queen's 90th birthday

After a spell of unseasonable warmth, cooler air will return to London late this week as thousands converge on Windsor Castle to celebrate the queen's 90th birthday.
Included in the celebration, which runs 12-15 May, are the events of the Royal Windsor Horse show that ends each day at 6:00 p.m., followed by an evening programme reflecting on the life of the Queen.

The weather will cooperate with no rainfall in the forecast from Thursday through Sunday. While it will be dry, each day will feature morning cloud breaking for some sunshine in the afternoon and evening.
Broken cloud and clear spells are expected each night.
Temperatures will trend downward from Thursday to Saturday then remain seasonably cool on Sunday as the queen makes her appearance at the celebration.
A light jacket will be needed for those planning to attend the evening events.
Warmth will prevail on Thursday with temperatures falling from 22 C (72F) in the afternoon to 16 C (60 F) by the end of the day's events. It will be quite breezy in the afternoon and early evening with gusts at 25 mph (40 km/h).

Cooler air will begin to arrive Friday as temperatures range from 19 C (66 F) in the afternoon to 9 C (48 F) at the end of the evening programme. Chilly winds will make it feel as cold as 4 C (40 F) at times after sunset.
This cooler air will linger Saturday and Sunday with temperatures between 12 and 16 C (54 and 60 F) during the afternoon falling to around 10 C (50 F) by the end of each days events.
Gusty winds will make it feel even cooler at times during the afternoon and early evening hours; however, winds will diminish after sunset both days.
