After a calm Christmas Day, a batch of rain will invade the Chicago area in time for weekend travel.
Saturday will shape up to be a cloudy day with rain likely to fall in the afternoon. Temperatures will hover in the mid-40s F, which is still above average for this time of year.

Conditions will dry out on Sunday, but temperatures will drop as gusty winds blast the region. AccuWeather RealFeel Temperatures® could fall into the 20s and into the teens by Sunday night.
The biggest punch from the storm will arrive on Monday as rain will pull back into the region by the evening hours. As temperatures hover in the mid-30s, rain could change over to sleet Monday night.

Anyone traveling or venturing out should take caution and slow down on roadways.
"The bulk of the precipitation will fall on Monday night and the storm track will determine where the wintery precipitation falls," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brian Thompson said.
The storm will pull away from the area on Tuesday as temperatures climb back to the 40s.
