While dry weather will start the new week, the return of rain to the Pittsburgh area is on the horizon for Tuesday.
An area of high pressure will continue to allow residents to keep umbrellas at home Monday, but an increase in clouds will indicate that the dry spell will not last much longer.
Temperatures will still rise into the upper 50s on a day when a high near 55 F is more common.
From Monday night into Tuesday, periods of rain will be the culprit behind slower travel.
Since numerous downpours and widespread flooding should stay absent, Tuesday's rain will be mostly a nuisance for travelers and those with outdoor plans.

Reduced visibility and spray from other vehicles will slow down motorists. Outdoor activities could be forced indoors or postponed.
Drier weather will return for Veterans Day on Wednesday as the storm system responsible for the rainy Tuesday departs.
However, residents should not pack their umbrellas too deep into closets. The arrival of a cold front will quickly return some rain on Thursday with noticeable cooling and brisk winds to follow for the upcoming weekend.
