For the millions of travelers hitting the roads and airports for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, weather conditions across the country will be divided between mostly calm in the East and active weather in the Plains and Rockies.
Quiet weather conditions will rule much of the East Coast through Friday thanks to high pressure. Meanwhile, a southward dip in the jet stream will bring rain, ice and snow to the nation's midsection on Thanksgiving Day.

"Black Friday," Nov. 27
Possible travel trouble spots: Rain, locally heavy with some embedded thunderstorms, will soak parts of the southern Plains, mid-Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley and Great Lakes. Light wintry mess of snow, sleet and freezing rain continues from the southern High Plains to the central Plains with a few snow showers across Iowa and perhaps northern Lower Michigan. Quiet weather continues to persist along much of the East Coast, although showers may develop in northern New England and Upstate New York later in the day.Major airports impacted:

Some freezing rain and sleet are possible again in parts of the southern and central Plains as arctic air interacts with moisture in an easterly upslope wind flow behind a cold front.Major airports impacted:
