Tropical Storm Hilda Churns in the Eastern Pacific

Highlights:

  • Tropical Depression Ten-E formed in the Eastern Pacific Wednesday night and was upgraded to Tropical Storm Hilda this morning.
  • Tropical Storm Hilda is about 1,630 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula.
  • Tropical Storm Hilda is expected to continue strengthening as it moves west and could approach hurricane status this weekend.
  • This system is expected to remain out over open water over the next five days, eventually turning more towards the northwest.
  • Later next week, the system could affect portions of Hawaii, if it continues on the currently projected path.
