In the social media age, awesome weather photos are a "dime a dozen." I
have seen enough sunset, tornado, shelf cloud, and lightning pictures
that I could stack them from the Earth's surface to the top of the
troposphere.
But hey, that is what makes us weather geeks, right? We have a childish curiosity and fascination with what the atmosphere chooses to show us. If you watch WxGeeks, I suspect that you do as well.
This week on WxGeeks, we've invited Roger Hill to the show. It is quite likely that you have seen some of his work at some point online. His photographs of tornadoes, lightning, and other weather processes have gained him legendary status among enthusiasts and scientists. One colleague told me, "he just seems to know where the tornadoes will be...."
True to WxGeeks form, we were not only interested in the cool photos. We were also interested in the stories behind the pictures. Roger provides some amazing insight into some of his best pictures on the show. The visuals in this episode are amazing.
However, I could not let Roger Hill get away without asking him some tough but important questions about the current era of storm chasing and photography. Is it science? Is it tourism? Is it thrill-seeking? Is it the money shot? Is it safe? What are his ground rules?
This is one of those really cool episodes that you will not want to miss.
Join us on The Weather Channel at Noon ET (11 CT, 10 MT, 9 PT).
Upcoming: August 16th, A look inside FEMA's Hurricane Program with Rebecca Jennings as we continue towards the peak of the Atlantic basin hurricane season.
