Showers and thunderstorms will return to the Pittsburgh area by the middle of the week following a hot and humid weekend.
The hot and humid conditions experienced over the weekend are forecast to carry over into Monday with highs near 90 F with sunshine and some clouds.
"By Tuesday, temperatures will come down a bit as showers and thunderstorms move in from the west," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Alyson Hoegg.

Showers and thunderstorms will linger around the city into Thursday with the greatest chance for a thunderstorm coming during the afternoon and evening hours.
The unsettled weather will bring with it a slight drop in temperatures with highs on Tuesday and Wednesday in the lower to middle 80s. However, the humidity will linger around with the storms.

A cold front swinging through late on Thursday will usher drier, more seasonable air into the region with highs in the lower 80s.
"The humidity will drop off for Friday and last into the weekend, good weather for people who are moving into college," said Hoegg.
