Dry weather will return to the Philadelphia area as a storm system responsible for brushing the area with showers moves out into the Atlantic this weekend.
Temperatures will remain seasonable, while humidity levels will be low for the middle of August through the weekend.
Pattern Change Next Week to Bring Rain and Thunderstorms to North
The dry weather will support outdoor activities such as biking, jogging, football practice and a trip to the shore.
Keep in mind with a storm developing offshore that there is the potential for locally rough surf and strong rip currents this weekend.
Philadelphia has received 143 percent of their normal rainfall since June 1. The majority of the rainfall fell in June with totals being about 9 inches or 260 percent of their normal total for the month. July and early August were much drier with the region receiving only about 65 percent of its normal rainfall.
According to AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski, since July 10, the number of dry days has outnumbered rainy days.
"Prior to July 10, back to June 1, the number of rainy days outnumbered the dry days," Sosnowski said.
The recent drier weather and high evaporation rates has some lawns turning brown. Watering of golf courses and gardens is becoming an almost daily chore.
