London: Seasonable Weekend Transitions to Unsettled Week Ahead

August 8,2015; 9:37PM,EDT

A dry and warm end to the weekend will unfold in southern England before a series of frontal boundaries brings rain showers to much of the area early in the new week.
Sunday's weather will offer a great day for the conclusion of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. A few showers can be expected to the north and west of Bristol. Temperatures will be in the upper teens to mid-20s (middle 60s to 70s) across the United Kingdom.
Europe Weather Outlook
A rain-free day on Sunday in London will give way to a rainy day on Monday. AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski explains, "As a cold front moves east, there will be widespread showers across the United Kingdom, London included." The good news is that most of the rain activity will be confined to the afternoon.
Showers are forecast from Edinburgh to Manchester and Ashford. These rain showers are less than ideal for those going to the Trent Bridge cricket grounds in Nottingham for the final day of the Ashes Series.

Pydynowski cautioned that some rain may linger to the south into Tuesday, "The frontal boundary may slow down [and allow rain showers to remain] in extreme southeastern United Kingdom."
Otherwise on Tuesday, Southampton, London, and points north will be dry under a mix of clouds and sun. Temperatures will range from the midteens to the west and the low 20s (low 60s to 70s) to the east.

A second weather system arrives on Wednesday. At this time, the most widespread rain showers are forecast from Southampton to London and northeast to Cambridge.
"Best chance of steady rain is confined to southern England. We are watching the storm system closely as it could [stay] southeast of London" added Pydynowski.
