Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,October 15,2016

A cold frontal boundary will transition across the Plains on Saturday, while a Pacific system approaches the West Coast.

A low pressure system will push east northeastward over south central and southeast Canada. A cold frontal boundary will extend southwestward from the upper Midwest to the Great Basin. As this frontal boundary transitions eastward, it will produce showers and thunderstorms across the upper Mississippi Valley and the Midwest. Light to moderate showers will trail this system over the northern Plains and the upper Intermountain West. High elevation snow is also expected in parts of the central and northern Rockies.

Meanwhile, another potent Pacific system will move onshore over the Pacific Northwest and across the upper Intermountain West. This system and its associated cold frontal boundary will generate moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds across much of the Northwest. Flash flooding will be possible in southwest Oregon and northwest California. Embedded thunderstorms will affect some coastal regions stretching from northern California to western Washington. Additionally, high elevation snow is expected for the Sierra Nevada, the Cascades and the northern Rockies. Heavy snow will be possible in central Idaho.

Temperatures will be anywhere from 5 to 15 degrees above normal across the central and southern Plains. A dry weather pattern will prevail from the Southwest to the southern Plains on Saturday.
