Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,October 14,2016

A very wet weather pattern will impact the Northwest on Friday, while thunderstorms persist from the southern Plains to the lower Mississippi Valley.

A Pacific low pressure system will push east northeastward across the Pacific Northwest and the upper Intermountain West. This system will be accompanied by a plume of moisture moving inland from the eastern Pacific. Moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds will affect the Pacific Northwest, the upper Intermountain West, the Great Basin and northern California. Locally heavy rain will be a concern for favorable slopes in southwest Oregon and northwest California. Cool air will support high elevation snow showers in the Sierra Nevada, the Cascades, the Wasatch and the Rockies. Most areas from southern California to the Four Corners should stay clear of precipitation.

Meanwhile, a cold frontal boundary will extend southward and westward over the western Atlantic, the Florida Peninsula and the Gulf Coast. This frontal boundary will continue to produce thunderstorms over parts of the Florida Peninsula, the southern Plains and the lower Mississippi Valley. Showers will also be possible in the Tennessee Valley by Friday evening. A ridge of high pressure will build over the Great Lakes and the Northeast. This high pressure system will usher cool and dry air across the Midwest, the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England.
