Cooler weather to return to Germany by midweek

Following a milder, September-like weekend, cooler air will move into Germany for the middle of the week, making it feel much more like autumn.
Over the weekend, temperatures soared into the upper teens C (middle 60s F) across southern Germany. But throughout this week, a storm system will usher in cooler air.
"On Wednesday, temperatures will likely be dropping to a similar level as last week's cool spell," AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys said.

Afternoon high temperatures across the country will likely be between 8 and 12 C (45 and 54 F) on Wednesday and Thursday, a little cooler than normal for mid-October.
For most locations, the chilliest day is likely on Thursday, when temperatures in the southern mountains could be cool enough for snow showers.
The same system that will deliver cool weather will also trigger waves of showers, which will gradually move across the country.
"On-and-off showers will continue from Tuesday through Thursday for Baden-Wurttemberg and Bavaria," added Roys. "Some thunder could accompany these showers on Thursday."

The rest of Germany will experience a larger break between the showers.
For northwestern Germany, including Bremen, Hanover and Dusseldorf, light rain will move in for the afternoon and early evening on Tuesday.
Periods of rain will return on Wednesday to Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, but it will be mainly dry on Thursday in this area.
Eastern Germany, including Berlin and Dresden, is forecast to see nighttime showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, while the daytime will stay mainly dry.
As the week continues, the showery weather will persist across Germany with some dry periods. Temperatures will also continue to fall slowly into the start of the weekend.
