Tropical Storm Georgette Weakening Quickly Over the Eastern Pacific Ocean

July 26,2016
Tropical Storm Georgette is fading fast far from land over the eastern Pacific Ocean.
Earlier, Georgette was the fourth eastern Pacific hurricane this month, tying a record in that basin for the most hurricanes in July. Then, Georgette rapidly strengthened to a Category 4 hurricane Sunday night.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
  • Georgette was located about 1,245 miles west of the southern tip of Baja California.
  • Rapid weakening is expected over the next two days, thanks to Georgette's movement into an air mass more suppressive for thunderstorms and over cooler water.
  • This system is no threat to the U.S. mainland or Mexico.
