Hurricane Celia may gather a bit more strength in the eastern Pacific Ocean over the next 24 hours after becoming the basin's second hurricane of the season Sunday.
Like its two predecessors, Celia is not expected to affect land as it moves over the open Pacific waters the next several days.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
- Celia's center was located about 1,150 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California as of Monday.
- Celia is forecast to strengthen a bit more Monday, before steady weakening begins Tuesday.
- On average, the season's third storm forms by July 5, according to the National Hurricane Center.
