Showers to Dampen the West Early This Weekend

A low pressure system tracking across the West will deliver some showers to the region early in the weekend before quickly tracking into the Plains.
Those with outdoor plans on Saturday may want to hold off until Sunday as Saturday appears to be the wetter of the two days.
However, Saturday will be far from a washout with showers being more of a nuisance rather than a major disruption.

People in Washington, Oregon, Nevada and northern and central California may want to keep their umbrella handy on Saturday while many in Arizona, New Mexico and Southern California remain dry.
This includes cities such as Seattle, San Francisco and Sacramento.
These showers should only occur during a small part of the day with there being more hours of dry weather than wet.

Much drier conditions can be expected to close out the weekend as the low pressure system tracks towards the Plains.
This will provide more favorable weather for those looking to spend part of the weekend outdoors hiking, playing sports or at the beach.
However, as the system transitions eastward, it could produce a few brief showers over Arizona and New Mexico.
While the showers may be welcome in the West, it will have no effect on the drought.
With dry conditions expected through the first half of the new week, the West will have to wait for another storm to deliver much-needed rain.
