The weather most days leading up to the NASCAR 2014 Coca-Cola 600 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be warm and generally rain-free.
The most likely day for rain is on Thursday, when showers and thunderstorms will affect parts of the Carolinas during the afternoon and night.
The storms could affect afternoon practice and evening Sprint Cup qualifying Thursday.
There is a slight chance that the thunderstorm activity lingers for a time on Friday.

Clearing and a drop in the humidity are forecast for Friday evening and Saturday, but daytime temperatures will remain above average for the latter part of May. Temperatures typically range from the upper 50s around sunrise to a high near 80 in the afternoon.
Sunshine is in the offing for Sprint Cup Series practice on Saturday and the Nationwide Series race Saturday afternoon.
The weather on Sunday is shaping up to be on the warm side thanks to several hours of strong sunshine.

Thunderstorms are forecast to develop in western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina before the end of the Memorial Day weekend as more humid air returns, but at this time it appears rain will hold off for racing Sunday evening at the speedway, located just north of metro Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Coca-Cola 600 is scheduled to start at approximately 6:00 p.m. EDT, Sunday, May 25, 2014, after the conclusion of the Indianapolis 500, so race fans will have plenty to watch this weekend.
