An ice storm is unleashing freezing rain over the South this afternoon, impacting major cities such as Eldorado, Ark.; Greenville, Miss.; Memphis, Tenn. and Nashville, Tenn.
Through Monday night, the ice will occur from the Louisiana/Arkansas border to northwestern Mississippi into central Tennessee, leaving a frozen glaze up to 1/2 an inch thick on surfaces.
The ice build-up could result in downed trees and power lines. Be prepared in advance for power outages and roadway closures.
