Snow, Wintry Mix for Louisville, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh

The latest storm in a series will ride northeastward from Texas later Tuesday and Tuesday night with clouds in the north and west, drenching rain south and east and snow and a wintry mix in the middle.
Rain will soak areas from part of middle and eastern Tennessee to much of eastern Kentucky, the western Virginia Panhandle and much of West Virginia into Tuesday night.

Enough rain can fall on already saturated ground in some areas to cause flash, urban and small stream flooding.

Farther north and west, a wintry mix to snow will fall from western Tennessee and the Boot Heel of Missouri to along the Ohio River to southern Ohio, northern West Virginia and southwestern Ohio.

The swath of snow and ice will continue to spread northeastward Tuesday evening and overnight into more of the Ohio Valley.

Cities that could be on the receiving end of a light snowfall or a slippery mixture of snow, ice and rain include Paducah, Ky.; Evansville, Ind.; Louisville, Ky.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Morgantown, W.Va.; and Pittsburgh, Pa.

Icy conditions are a concern from Shreveport and Monroe, La., to Pine Bluff and Little Rock, Ark.; Greenville, Miss.; Memphis, Tenn.; and Hopkinsville, Ky. It is within this swath where motorists and pedestrians will need to exercise caution due to icy travel.

Enough ice can accumulate to weigh down trees and power lines, perhaps causing sporadic outages. Low-hanging or fallen tree limbs could block travel, especially along secondary roads and in neighborhoods of towns and cities.

Late Tuesday night into Wednesday midday, snow will fall over part of the mid-Atlantic and New England.
