The blizzard of late January 1978 brought excessive amounts of snow to Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Wind gusts ranged from 80 to 100 mph with the storm. The strong winds and intense snowfall brought snow drifts to the rooftops of homes. At the time, this storm had the lowest recorded pressure of any non-tropical storm for the U.S. A total of 70 lives were lost due to the storm.
