Showers and Mountain Snow for L.A., San Diego

A modest storm dropping southward along the California Coast will continued to spread showers into Southern California this weekend.
There will be enough rain shower activity to wet the pavement in part of the Los Angeles and the San Diego areas Saturday into Sunday.
According to Western Weather Expert Ken Clark, "Since the storm is a chilly one, it will bring snow levels down to between 3,500 and 4,000 feet in Southern California."
With this particular setup, a little more snow shower activity would occur over Cajon Pass (I-15), rather than over Tejon Pass (I-5).
"There could still be a couple of snow showers that briefly lower the visibility over the Grapevine, but the best chance of a small slippery accumulation are the passes east of L.A.," Clark said.
While only light snow is forecast over the ski areas, on the order of 1 to 3 inches in most locations, temperatures will be cold enough throughout the weekend into Monday for snow making opportunities around the clock.
"Most of the rain will fall over the Central Coast, with less than one-quarter of an inch for coastal Southern California," Clark added.
The shower activity is likely to linger into Sunday in Southern California, while also migrating into Arizona and New Mexico. Heavy amounts of rain and snow are not expected over the Four Corners, but there could be enough snow along the high ground along I-40 to cause slow travel for a time.
The activity will be winding down over the Four Corners states by New Year's Eve.
