Live: Heavy Snow Ramps Up in Southeastern New England

December 29,2012; 7:29PM,EST

Just days after a major winter storm struck the Northeast, a new snowstorm is following right on its heels.
The heaviest snow is being unleashed over southeastern New England, while the storm rapidly intensifies off the coast.
Road conditions will rapidly deteriorate as the snow thumps at rates of up to 1-2 inches an hour into Saturday night. With snow this heavy, thunder and lightning are possible.
If you need to travel, keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you. Drive slowly. And be sure to have a pair of gloves and perhaps a snow shovel handy in case you become stuck.
Snow has changed to rain in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., and other areas of the I-95, but a rapid freeze-up Saturday night will lead to icy roads.
