Light Snow Heads to Chicago, Green Bay

Light snow will break out from Madison to Chicago and Green Bay Friday thanks to a weak zone of low pressure sliding south of the region.
As this system works slowly eastward, light snow will even overspread the western Great Lakes, starting in Grand Rapids and Traverse City by the afternoon and evening hours.
Spotty snow began Thursday evening over the eastern Dakotas, eastern Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota, where 1-3 inches was commonly measured.
The swath of 1-3 inches is expected to continue into the Midwest and Great Lakes for Friday.

Given that temperatures have been cold recently, the snow will have no trouble sticking to most surfaces, including pavement, as highs top off in the upper 20s and lower 30s.
Roadways will become slick and slushy once the snow begins, with travel headaches resulting throughout the region.

Be sure to allow extra time traveling. Always keep a safe stopping distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
The snow will come to an end by Friday night and Saturday morning, leaving behind breezy and cold weather for the remainder of the weekend.
