Following the hottest day of the year in the United Kingdom, cooler air will bring relief to all of the country by Thursday.
The high temperature peaked at 33.5 C (92.3 F) in Brize Norton on Tuesday. The temperature peaked near 33 C (92 F) in London with many areas in the South East experiencing temperatures of 30-32 C (86-90 F).
While uncomfortable warmth continued across London and the South East on Wednesday, cooler and fresher air swept into the rest of the U.K. This blast of cooler air will spread throughout the South East on Thursday bringing an end to the heatwave.
Following the highest temperatures in more than a year across most of the U.K., many are wondering when the heat will return again.
AccuWeather meteorologists are expecting near- to below-normal temperatures to prevail throughout most of the United Kingdom for the final week of July and the first half of August.
The exception will be London and the South East which can expect near- to slightly above-normal temperatures. A few days with temperatures at or above 27 C (80 F) are possible; however, most days will be closer to the normal high of 22 C (71 F).
Intense heat across the United Kingdom will be replaced by nearly constant Atlantic depressions that will supply cooler marine air.
Along with the cooler conditions, there will be more frequent cloudy days with the threat for showers, especially across northern and western parts of the U.K.

Many locations in Wales and northern England will fail to get more than a couple of days with temperatures reaching 21 C (70 F).
Northern Ireland and Scotland will be even cooler with most days featuring temperatures ranging from 15-18 C (59-65 F).
Those looking for heat and sunshine will want to travel southeast as several heat waves are expected from Italy and the Balkan Peninsula into eastern Europe through the first half of August.
