Tropical Storm Frank is slowly weakening well off Mexico's Baja California peninsula. Earlier, Frank became the sixth tropical storm to form in the eastern Pacific this month.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
- Frank was located about 330 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, as of Monday afternoon.
- The storm is being hammered by wind shear and cooler water, so a slow weakening phase is forecast over the next two days.
- Frank is no threat to the U.S. mainland, but is bringing higher swells to the southern Baja coast and Sinaloa state.
Frank passed north of Socorro Island on Saturday evening with winds of 65 mph. The island reported wind gusts to 53 mph.
