Celia is not expected to directly affect any land areas as it heads west-northwest over the open Pacific waters the next several days.
Here's the latest from the National Hurricane Center:
  • Celia's center was located 690 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.
  • Hurricane Blas's remnant cooler waters are keeping Celia weak for now.
  • Celia is expected to intensify to a hurricane at some point this weekend.
On average, the season's third storm forms by July 5, according to the National Hurricane Center.
